Research Projects and Poster Sessions:

For assistance in obtaining published articles regarding the forensic science disciplines, a list of On-Line journals is maintained at the www.cbdiai.org Website. Here you will find articles of interest in latent print examination, footwear & tire track examination, evidence collection & recovery. Also featured are various related aspects of these forensic disciplines including AFIS, IAFIS, Live Scan, Chemical Processing, Photography, Courtroom testimony, etc.

Kindly refer to our own On-Line Professional Journals Webpage.

Participation in a Poster Session at an Educational Conference is a way to have your research shared with the forensic and crime scene investigation community. The results of your research and any accompanying charts, tables and graphs are displayed on a chartboard. You are expected to be present along with your display to be able to answer questions from the audience. A project like this looks good on a resume, and it is a way to hone your public speaking skills.

Social Gatherings:

A Student/Intern may attend the nightly Social Gathering at which they can introduce themselves to Supervisors and Directors from a number of Chesapeake Bay Area law enforcment agencies. Several Federal agencies (including Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Serivce, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) and state agencies regularly send their members to the CBD-IAI conferences. This also represents an opportunity for these agencies to "informally interview" prospective new employees who are about to graduate with a law enforcement - related degree.

Scheduled Meeting Breaks :

Three (3) Break-Times are scheduled into our Educational Conferences in order to attract members to the vendor display area at the conference. A Friday afternoon break, a Saturday morning break, and a Saturday afternoon break are three opportunities for the students/interns to meet and discuss topics with experienced and knowledgable examiners without competing with the Conference presentations.

Certificates of Attendance :

Students and interns participating in workshops and conferences earn Certificates of Attendance. These attractive documents list your name along with the training topic and the number of successfully completed training hours. Copies of theses certificates may be attached to resumes and/or job applications.
