May 2018
It is a privilege to have the opportunity to address you as the 57th President of the CBD-IAI. When I began volunteering with this organization in 2014 as Vendor Coordinator, I never expected to be in the position I am today. I would like to thank all the individuals who mentored me along the way; I am forever grateful. Being in this position is a tremendous honor for me and I promise to serve to the best of my ability.
The 2018 Spring Educational Conference in Morgantown, WV was a great success. Chairperson, Kelly Ayers, succeeded in planning an outstanding event which was held at the beautiful Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place. A huge thank you needs to be given to our 1st Vice President, Shelly Brazelle, who put together a phenomenal program. Not only did the general session presentations contain a wide variety of informative topics, the workshops were all filled to capacity and I have received nothing but great reviews. Our 2nd Vice President, Dani O’Neill, did an outstanding job in securing the best vendor turnout in years. In all, we had 17 vendor tables purchased, which is simply amazing. I also do not want to forget all the other officers and committee members that contributed to the conference success. Last but not least, a huge thank you to our Secretary/Treasurer, Jessica Landi, who puts in countless hours of work, outside of her full-time job, to allow this organization to operate on a daily basis. Thank you all for the hard work in 2017-2018 and I look forward to working with you all again in 2018-2019.
The 2018 Fall Seminar will be held in October, with the location to be determined. First Vice President, Shelly Brazelle, is diligently working on the logistics which will be announced on the website soon. We are also working hard on the planning of the 2019 Spring Educational Conference which will be held in Richmond, VA. Again, please continue to check the website for updates. I urge each of you to lend your knowledge, skills and abilities to continue to strengthen our scientific discipline(s), ourselves and most importantly our division. This is why the theme of the 2019 Spring Educational Conference will be Strengthening Our Future. I hope to see each of you in Richmond, VA!
Please do not ever hesitate to contact me with questions and/or suggestions you may have to strengthen our division. Your leadership consists of people who listen and put forth effort in making the CBD the best it can be. It will be an honor representing the CBD at the parent body conference in San Antonio and I hope to see you there.
Best Regards,
Christopher A. Claytor, President
