Class
The focus of this class is to introduce examiners and crime scene responders to the best practices of macro photography of impressions in order to obtain the knowledge and skills required for capturing impression evidence at a crime scene. Through classroom instruction and demonstrations, the students will gain a comprehension of the best practices in photographing impressions, understanding the camera settings and modes, types of image formats, image quality, lighting techniques, light theory and filter use, and composition of the image.

Andrew Reitnauer
|
Andrew Reitnauer is a practicing Forensic Scientist with 15 years’ experience as a Latent Print Examiner and Senior Crime Scene Responder, and is the current CEO of Delta Forensics, LLC. As a technical leader and primary trainer within his laboratories, Andrew is responsible for procedure development, and development of the evidence processing program. Andrew is an ASCLD/LAB approved internal auditor for laboratory standards. To date he has examined evidence in over 15,000 cases, 100 crime scenes and has been qualified as an expert witness in courtroom proceedings approximately 85 times.
Andrew’s expertise include Latent Print Examination, Crime Scene Response, Forensic Photography, Obtaining Exemplar Impressions, and Program Development. He has also been a Senior Crime Scene Responder since 2006. He is a certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst (CSCSA) through the IAI. He has also conducted dozens of training sessions for various forensic practitioners, and has presented at the New York Division and Chesapeake Bay Division of the IAI conferences, College Seminars and the Northeast Latent Print Forum, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Chesapeake Bay Division of the IAI. Andrew is also a Past-President of the New York Division of the IAI and former member of the Friction Ridge Subcommittee of the OSAC. He has been published in the New York Division of the IAI Newsletter, New England Division of the IAI Newsletter, Evidence Technology Magazine, and Fingerprint World, the International Journal of the Fingerprint Society, in addition to authoring chapters in two textbooks. His work has been recognized as the recipient of the Boston Police Department's Commissioner's Distinguished Service Award, and two letters of appreciation from the NYPD Crime Laboratory. |

Aperture Photographic Training is offering an exclusive training opportunity to members of CBD-IAI.
Class
This course one-day will introduce the attendee to the legal issues related to photography and when presenting photographs or digital images into a court of law. This course will be presented in a one-day, four-hour online training session. There will also be a photographic assignment that will require an additional 90 minutes, and 30 minutes for a one-on-one video assignment review/critique. Attendees must have access to Adobe Photoshop to complete the required assignment.
Test: A score of 70% will be required to complete this course.
Practical Photographic Exercise: Yes, there will two practical assignments in order to complete this lesson.
